Malcolm standing on MN 35019 'French Line C.G.T.' 1st June 1957 with the 17:30 Waterloo to Bournemouth. The driver sitting on the fireman’s seat is Driver ‘Punch' Clark.

The Merchant Navy was still painted in blue and was cleaned because it was working a Boat Train to Southampton carrying Princess Margaret. Malcolm is 3rd Engine Cleaner from right.
