The Bluebell Railway is one of Britain's finest preserved railways and runs through the beautiful Sussex countryside about 35 miles south of London.

Join TV Presenter Nicholas Owen as he describes the Maunsell 'U' Class 2-6-0 including 1960's archive cine footage of sister engines at Guildford, the award winning restoration of 1638, a tour of 1638's cab and running gear, and finally a cab ride with 1638 along the entire length of the Bluebell Railway from Sheffield Park through Horsted Keynes to Kingscote.

Mobile and fixed cameras on board the locomotive combined with expert narrative and interviews all help to give a comprehensive insight into the skills involved in restoring and driving a steam locomotive.

Filmed in full screen 4:3 format colour digital video and stereo sound with restored archive 8mm cine film and still photos. Running time 55 minutes.
